Since I am a teacher I have the privilege of getting a summer "break". I use this term loosely because it is not as much of a break as one may think. There is still a lot of work teachers do during the summer that goes unbeknownst to the public because we are not in the classroom educating our youth on a day to day basis. I will not lie to you and say that every day is a work day throughout the summer, but trust me when I say, teachers are always thinking about new things they encounter and what else they could do to make their classroom the best it can be! My last day of school was May 23rd. I had a meeting on the 24th, then it was Memorial Day weekend, and then I had more meetings throughout last week to finish up the school year. Monday of this week was the first FULL week I had with NOTHING planned. So, today I took FULL ADVANTAGE!
I had a "me" day, which people do not do often enough. I woke up at my leisure, meaning I did not set an alarm clock (heavenly!) Once awake, I sat on the couch trying to figure out what I wanted to do. What? I normally have a laundry list of things to do...how do I have NOTHING to do today? Am I sure? I check my phone, my e-mail, my texts, etc....yes! Nothing to do.
I decide after much deliberation that I want to read. I've been hearing a lot of about "Fifty Shades of Grey" I have downloaded it on my kindle and begin to read. I find myself two hours later glued to the chair and not wanting to move! WOW this book is addicting!
I finally decide to put it down so I can go get my nails and toes done...so nice. I then go back and do more reading.
For dinner Jon grills steak, and I make a bunch of veggie side dishes to go with. We have an amazing dinner together and I finally feel relaxed and ready to bring on summer "vacation."
Thank you "me" day!
I have heard so many tales about people obsessing over reading that book! I think I need a me day, too.
