Day 15-The Monolith Complete!

I volunteered to work Vacation Bible School today, through Wednesday. I knew I would be in the crib room with 5 two year olds and was up for the challenge! Within the first 5 minutes to the start of our day we had 3 2 year olds in the room crying for their moms. I now have the utmost respect for pre-school teachers. Holy Cow! The kids were beyond cute, and we finally got them settled down. The day went by ridiculously fast, and soon we found there were only 10 more minutes left until their parents came. I was talking with the other volunteer in the room, and noticed one of the boys in the corner chewing something. I approached him and said "What is in your mouth buddy?" He looked up at me with his cute face and mumbled "mrfing" (nothing), I asked him to say his name, and he shook his head no. I then said, "Say AHHH" thinking that maybe he would remember when his doctor asked him to do this, and by some sort of miracle he opened his mouth. I peered in, and saw....purple. Purple EVERYWHERE, in his teeth, on his tongue, in his gums, basically any crevice one has in their mouth-purple was there. I'm thinking to myself this must be some sort of joke and what the hell is this?! When I look down I see a partially gnawed purple crayon...BINGO. I then explain to this adorable, crayon eating boy that we do not eat purple crayons at Vacation Bible School. I put a glove on and try to scrape all of the purple out of his mouth. His grandma comes, and I explain to her that she may find some purple remnants in his mouth, and this was due to the fact that he ate crayon. She looked at me and grinned. She said, "He eats crayons all of the time! He eats chalk too, I'm not sure what to do." Well--the first thing you should do is tell people who watch your grandchild that he likes to eat crayons! Note to self for tomorrow morning...

After this lovely morning I got home and waited for my mom to get home so we could finish the bathroom. Once she got home it didn't take us too long to put it all together. We still have a couple minor things we want to add, but here is the gist of the final product-the monolith as I so creatively titled the bathroom, after my dad made a comment regarding the brown wall. Pictures can be found below.

So, I may have come to some sort of conclusion...I like decorating and designing. After completing Jon's bathroom, I eagerly took on the challenge of the bathroom at our house and I like the way it turned out. Creating a vision of what you want the final product to look like, and then going through all of the steps to make that vision come to life is engaging, challenging, fun, and relaxing. Yes-there's that relaxing word again. I used it when I referred to the whole gardening concept, and now I'm using it regarding designing rooms/spaces. I like it. It's good to find things I like, and make me happy. Does anyone need me to help decorate their space? Ha-Ha I kid, but seriously I would totally be up for the challenge!

The table we placed in front of the window, with a lamp of course!

The shower curtain the inspiration came from that my mom selected.

Art work on the wall, and the vase of fun stuff!
